The Okayama Literature Festival will be held in Autumn 2024 and Spring 2025.
The festival will be held in Autumn and Spring. Book sales, the ceremony for the Joji Tsubota Literary Award, lectures and other events related to literature will be taken place at various locations in Okayama City.
The event will be held to celebrate the publication of “Uttate,” a magazine of City of Literature Okayama. “Uttate” will be launched in September 2024.
Mayumi Mori, editor and author of the regional magazine “Yanaka, Nezu, Sendagi” will come to give a lecture.
Date: Friday, October 18, 2024, six p.m. to eight thirty p.m. (Registration: from five thirty p.m.)
Venue: Okayama Arts Creative Theater Harenowa, Art Salon (3-11-50 Omote-cho, Kita-ku, Okayama City)
Note : No parking at the venue.
Capacity: 100 people

Mayumi Mori
Born in 1954 in Komagome-Dousaka, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. Graduated from Waseda University, School of Political Science and Economics and the Newspaper Research Institute of the University of Tokyo where she launched the regional magazine “Yanaka, Nezu, Sendagi” with her colleagues in 1984.She worked for preservation of historical buildings and the Ueno Shinobazu Pond.
She has written many books, including “Ogai no Saka” (“Ogai's Slope”), “Adventures of the Blue Stocking”, and “Kikigaki Kanto Daishinsai” (“Interviews: The Great Kanto Earthquake”).

The Omote-cho Book Street will be held at Omote-cho Shopping Street. “Hitohako Furuhon Ichi” (One box book market) will be organised in this event. Secondhand bookstores, bookstores and citizens will gather to sell books.
Date: Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 11a.m. to 3p.m.
Venue: Omote-cho shopping street, Nakano-cho, Shimono-cho, Sakae-cho in Okayama City
Exhibition and sale of small-scale publications such as Zines, little presses, magazines and free papers. Talk events and workshops are also planned.

Venue: Former Uchisange Elementary School (1-2-12 Marunouchi, Kita-ku, Okayama City)
Creative writing, criticism/non-fiction, photography, artwork... any genre is acceptable.
The Joji Tsubota Literary Award has been organised since 1984 to honor the achievements of Mr. Joji Tsubota, who was born in Okayama City and a pioneer of new field in children's literature. The award will be presented to the 2024 recipient and a commemorative event will be held.

Venue: Nishikawa Ai-Plaza (10-16 Saiwai-cho, Kita-ku, Okayama City)
Okayama Literature Elementary School is the two-day event packed with a variety of events related to literature and books including many talk events, workshops, and food and beverage booths. Bookstores, publishers and zine authors sell their books.
Date: Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16, 2025, 11a.m. to 4p.m.
Venue: Uchisange Elementary School (1-2-12 Marunouchi, Kita-ku, Okayama City)
Leaflets will be distributed at various locations in and around the city.
