The 1st workshop of “Okayama Writer-in-Residence” programme was held.
The 1st workshop was held on Saturday, May 18 at the Okayama Prefectural Museum.
About 40 persons participated in the workshop. Participants include high school students, university students and employees. They learned methods and examples of sketching landscape in writing from Mr. Norishiro how to place and move viewpoints and other points to keep in mind.
After they left the lecture room, participants crossed the Tsurumi Bridge and walked along the banks of the Asahigawa River to the Okayama Castle. Participants started to write landscape sketching in the area overlooking Okayama Castle on the other side of the river.
After the landscape sketching, participants returned to the Museum.
2nd workshop will be held in July and the 3rd in October.
The Okayama Writer-in-Residence is a programme which an author stay in Okayama to conduct interviews, write articles and works and hold workshops. Yusuke Norishiro, winner of the 37th Joji Tsubota Literary Award for his work “Tabi-suru Rensyu” (Traveling Practice) and a nominee for the 169th Akutagawa Award for his latest work. He has visited Okayama City for three terms for his activities.
