Bibliobattle is a style of social book reviewing.
In December 1984, Okayama City established the Joji Tsubota Literature Award to honor the outstanding achievements of Joji Tsubota. He was born in Okayama City and he became an honorary citizen of the City. Joji is a pioneer of a new field in children's literature in Japan.
Bibliobattle is an event related to literature hel cooperations of the Okayama Literature Award Steering Committee, the Okayama City Central Library and the Okayama Nippankai, an organization of bookstores in Okayama. Since 2025, they kept organising this event.
“Know books through people, know people through books,” is the catchphrase of this event.
Bibliobattle is a game-like intellectual book review competition in which each presenter brings a book recommendation. Each of the presenter have 5-minute book review and 3-minute Q&A time. The presenter and audience decide which book is the best book they want to read most.
The presenters do not use slides, resumes or manuscripts, but they use their own words to appeal the contents of the book.
The Bibliobattle consists of a junior high and high school student division and a general division.
